Publication Ethics and Conflict of Interest Statement
The journal is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in scientific publishing, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
1. Research Ethics and Patient Protection
Any research involving human beings, medical data or biological material must be conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki.
- Ethical approval: authors must formally state in the "Materials and Methods" section that the study was approved by a competent institutional or national ethics committee, specifying the committee's name and the approval number.
- Informed consent: for clinical studies and case reports, authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained from the patients (or their legal representatives).
- Anonymity: no details that could identify a patient (names, initials, hospital record numbers, non-anonymized photographs) may appear in the manuscript, unless such information is scientifically essential and accompanied by explicit written consent.
2. Conflict of Interest Disclosure
Transparency is essential to ensure the credibility of published articles. A conflict of interest exists when the judgment of an author, reviewer or editor may be influenced by personal, financial or academic relationships.
- For authors: all authors must include a "Conflict of Interest Statement" at the end of their manuscript, before the references. If there is no conflict, the following statement must be included: "The authors declare no conflict of interest in relation to this article." Sources of research funding must also be explicitly stated.
- For reviewers (peer reviewers): reviewers must decline to review a manuscript if they identify a conflict of interest (for example, if they work at the same institution as one of the authors or have recently collaborated with them).
- For the editorial board: editors recuse themselves from any editorial decision concerning a manuscript submitted by a close colleague or relating to a project in which they are involved.
3. Authorship Criteria
The journal strictly applies the ICMJE criteria. To qualify as an author, a researcher must meet all four of the following conditions:
- Substantial contribution to the conception, acquisition, analysis or interpretation of the data.
- Drafting the manuscript or critically revising its intellectual content.
- Approval of the final version to be published.
- Accountability for all aspects of the work.
Individuals who provided technical, language or administrative support without meeting all four criteria should be listed in an "Acknowledgements" section.
4. Plagiarism and Research Integrity
The journal enforces a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism, data fabrication and redundant publication (simultaneous submission to several journals). All submitted manuscripts are screened. In the event of proven misconduct, the manuscript will be rejected immediately and the authors' host institutions may be informed.
