Abstract

Introduction :
Among non-communicable diseases, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is responsible for several million deaths each year. Cardiovascular risk factors (CVDRFs) increase the risk of dying from CVD, hence the aim of our work, which was to determine the prevalence of CVDRFs among staff at the Ministry of Finance. Patients and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study from February 1 to July 23, 2022, involving 1,084 respondents aged over 18. FDRCVs were collected, data collected on survey forms and analyzed using Epi Info 7.1.5 software.

Results :
Of the 1084 people surveyed, the sex ratio was 1.54, with 657 males (61%) and 427 females (39%). The average age was 36.42 years, with extremes of 20 and 62+0.82 years. The 20-39 age group (66%) was the most represented. The prevalence of arterial hypertension (HT) was 24%, hyperglycemia 5% and sedentary lifestyle 70%. The rates of overall obesity and abdominal obesity were 32% and 35% respectively. In addition, 4% of participants reported regular alcohol consumption and 7% were smokers.

Conclusion :
We found a significant prevalence of FDRCV among the staff of Niger's Ministry of Finance. It is therefore important to sensitize, inform and educate all these personnel to deal with this growing public health problem, at the risk of damaging the mobilization of internal resources.
