Abstract

Introduction :
Sexual abuse of children by anal touching and/or penetration is becoming more and more frequent. The objective of this study was to describe the sociodemographic profile of victims of aggression and aggressors, to trace the therapeutic itinerary of abused children and to list the injuries during the medical examination. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study using secondary data over a 14 month period from 01 August 2023 to 30 September 2024. The study focused on the files of children aged 6 to 15 years sent by the judicial authority to the Zinder National Hospital (HNZ) for medical expertise for suspicion of touching and/or anal penetration.

Results :
A total of 15 children's files were collected. The average age of the assaulted is 10.73±2.96 years with a predominance of men (sex ratio of 14). The origin of the assaulted is urban in 93.33% (n=14). These were students in 53.33% (n=8), apprentice drivers in 26.66% (n=4) and Quran learners called talibés in 20% (n=3). The identity of the perpetrator was unknown in 93.33% (n=14). The average time between the attack and the dates of requisition and consultation was 5.6±7.47 and 7.53±8.43 days, respectively. Functional signs were represented by proctalgia in 20% (n=3), anal incontinence in 13.33% (n=2) and abdominal pain in 6.66% (n=1). Physical examination revealed lesions of anal touching and penetration in 46.66 (n=7) and 33.33% (n=5), respectively. Local and general care was prescribed in 40% (n=6). All the attackers had received a serological assessment for the hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis viruses. The serological results were negative either in relation to the true serological status of the aggressors and the accused, or in relation to the serological windows.

Conclusion :
sexual assaults by anal touching and/or penetration are frequent. They are responsible for complications that can leave physical and psychological sequelae in children and a feeling of guilt in parents.
