Abstract

Introduction :
Abdominopelvic ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that explores all the organs located between the diaphragmatic domes and the pelvic floor, using ultrasound waves. The objective of this study was to describe the contributions of abdominopelvic ultrasound in the diagnostic arsenal at the Zinder National Hospital. Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection, carried out over a period of one month, from December 1 to 31, 2023, in the medical imaging department of the Zinder/Niger National Hospital. Data were collected from the ultrasound room registers.

Results :
430 results were retained, out of a total of 503 ultrasound examinations performed, with a frequency of 85.48%. The average age of our patients was $32.66 \pm 22.56$ years, with a predominance in the [15-30[ age group at 26.74% (n=115), and a male/female sex ratio of 1.26. Emergency ultrasound requests represented 9.77% (n=39), including one traumatic context representing 0.23% (n=1). Surgical emergencies represented 2.79% (n=12) of our series. Abdominal pain was the most frequent functional sign, at around 80% (n=344). Urological signs were the most representative, at around 20.46%, followed by digestive signs (13.95%).

Conclusion :
Abdominal and/or pelvic ultrasound is the most frequent of the ultrasound examinations, with a frequency of approximately 85.48%. Medical pathologies were, by far, the most diagnosed, ahead of surgical pathologies.
