Abstract
Introduction :
Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease managed through a multimodal strategy combining surgery, systemic therapies, and radiotherapy. This study aimed to describe the sociodemographic, clinical, pathological, therapeutic, and early outcome characteristics of patients receiving curative-intent radiotherapy at Bogodogo University Hospital.
Materials and methods :
This single-center retrospective cohort included 98 patients with histologically confirmed breast cancer who completed a first course of curative-intent external beam radiotherapy between April 2023 and December 2025. The administrative censoring date was April 30, 2026.
Results :
The mean age was 49.7 years and the median age was 48 years. Stage IIIA and IIIB disease accounted for 42.9 % of cases. The median interval from surgery to radiotherapy was 214.5 days (IQR, 130–352; range, 51–739 days). Acute toxicities were documented in 9.2 % of patients and treatment interruptions in 7.1 %. Six deaths had occurred by the censoring date.
Conclusion :
This cohort showed a substantial proportion of locally advanced breast cancers and prolonged intervals between surgery and radiotherapy.
