Abstract
Introduction :
Covid-19 is a contagious, systemic viral infection that affects the respiratory tract preferentially. SARS COV 2, the virus responsible for the disease, can also affect other organs Objective: To describe the epidemiological, clinical, biological, paraclinical and evolutionary aspects of COVID 19 at the Maradi Regional Hospital.
Material and methods :
This is a descriptive cross-sectional study based on the files of patients followed up for Covid-19 at the Maradi Regional Hospital Centre from March to October 2020.
Results :
A total of 11 patients were included (8 males and 3 females, mean age 51.77 years and sex-ratio 3.5). All patients had presented with fever and benefited from the PCR test and 6 patients had a notion of travel and/or contact. All the patients who died (36.36%) had comorbidities (hypertension, pelvic colon volvulus, asthma, etc.). The duration of hospitalization varied from 5 to 10 days.
Conclusion :
Covid-19 is a serious, deadly disease. There is no etiological treatment. Barrier measures and vaccination are the main weapons. The mortality recorded in our context was associated with the presence of comorbidities.
