Abstract
Introduction :
Ectopic pregnancy (EP) is a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency, frequent in under-medicalized countries. The objective of the study was to describe the epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of EP. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective study carried out at the Mother and Child Health Center (CSME) in Zinder over a period of 4 years (January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2016). We have included cases of USG (ruptured or not).
Results :
During the study period, 12,099 pregnancies were recorded, including 82 cases of EP, an incidence of 0.67%. The average age was 29.20 ± 8.5 years. The antecedents of genital infection, abortion, pelvic surgery were found respectively in 25.61% (n=21), 21.95% (n=18) and 8.54% (n=7) of the cases. Amenorrhea and pelvic pain were found in 100% (n=82) and metrorrhagia in 61 cases (74.39%). Ultrasound had made in 74 patients, i.e. (90.24%), the pregnancy test was performed in 100% of cases. The USG was ruptured in 90.24% of cases. Salpingectomy was performed in 96.34% (n=79). Salpingotomy involved 2.44% (n=2) and adnexectomy was performed in 1.22% (n=1). Anemia was found in 90.24% (n=79), blood transfusion was performed in 50% of patients. No death cases were recorded.
Conclusion :
Ectopic pregnancy is a pathology that affects young women and late diagnosis at the rupture stage in our environment. Raising public awareness of risk factors and early consultation in the face of amenorrhea associated with pelvic pain could improve diagnosis and prognosis.
