Abstract

Objective :
to describe the epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and prognostic aspects of uterine rupture (UR) at the mother and child health center of Zinder.

Materials and methods :
this was a retrospective collection of data from January 2017 to December 31, 2020. Included were patients who presented with a uterine rupture on a healthy uterus.

Results :
the study focused on 102 cases of uterine rupture on a healthy uterus, i.e. a frequency of 1.49%. Patients were referred in 84.30% of cases (n = 86). The average age was 30.59 years, with extremes of 19 years for the youngest and 45 years for the oldest. The average parity was 5.77% and varied from 0 parity for the lowest to 14 parities for the highest. Multiparas (n = 79), with no level of education (n = 93), with unattended pregnancies (n = 39) were found in 77.46%, 91.2% and 32.2% of cases respectively. Uterine rupture was frank with the presence of the fetus under the skin in 68.6% (n = 70). Hysterectomy was performed in 32.4% of cases (n = 33). Blood transfusi 86.3% of cases (n = 88). The maternal death rate was 7.8% (n = 8) and perinatal mortality was 95.10% (n = 97).

Conclusion :
Uterine rupture on a healthy uterus was frequent in the CSME with significant maternal and perinatal mortality, it concerned multiparous women, with no level of education of different ages. Morbidity was dominated by anemia and vesicovaginal fistula (VVF).
