Abstract
Aims :
To evaluate the perioperative analgesic effectiveness of ketamin in scheduled surgery.
Patients and Method :
Prospective randomized double-blind study carried out from July 1st to October 15th, 2012 at Tanguieta hospital (Benin). Included were adult patients undergoing scheduled surgery two groups of patients were randomly formed: the nonketamin (NK) group benefited from standard anesthesic induction, and ketamin (K) group also benefited from the addition of ketamin (0.15mg. kg-1) on induction. Our data was entered and analyzed with the Epi info 7software. The Khi 2 test was used with a significant value of p‹0,05. Ketamine, surgery,
Results :
A total of 30 patients were collected, divided into 2 groups. The mean age in the K and NK groups was 41,3±14,5 years and 38,9±16 years, respectively, the mean weight 59,4±15,7 kg and 58,3±15,1kg. The female gender predominated with 67% of case. The ASA2 class represented 77% in the K group and 80% in the NK group. The mean consumption of intraoperative Fentanyl K and NK was 75 ± 26.35 µg and 104.55 ± 47.19 µg, or a saving of 28.26%. Mean arterial pressure and intraoperative heart rate were higher in the NK group compared to the K group. A mean reduction in pain scores on the visual analog scale (VAS) from 10 to 100 mm was found in favor of the K group compared to the NK group. The average amount of morphine used after 48 hours in the K group compared to the NK group showed savings of 47%. One case of side effects such as nausea and vomiting was noted.
Conclusion :
There is an anti-nociceptive effect during perioperative period linked to the use of low-dose ketamine at induction. Thus, morphine sparing and a reduction in pain scores on a VAS scale has been demonstrated.
