Abstract

Introduction :
Adult Still's disease (ASD) was described in 1971 by Bywaters. We report a case of MSA, the course of which was characterized by the death of the patient.

Case Report :
22-year-old female admitted for chronic febrile polyarthralgia with rash. The clinical examination did not reveal any signs of pathology, especially of an infectious, neoplastic or inflammatory nature. Laboratory tests revealed a hyperleukocytosis of 35640/mm3 with a neutrophilic predominance of 34400/mm3, hyperferritinemia of 1420 µg/L with a glycosylated fraction of 20%. The diagnosis of Still's disease was retained. Treatment was based on corticosteroid therapy. The course of the disease was marked by the patient's death after untimely discontinuation of corticosteroids.

Conclusion :
The rarity of Still's disease in general practice, especially in our context, may explain the delay in diagnosis in our patient.
