Abstract
Introduction :
Fracture-luxation of the proximal interphalangeal joint of the fingers is a rare injury and a challenge in hand surgery. The objective of this study was to report a case of fracture-luxation of the interphalangeal joint treated by the Suzuki method.
Case Report :
This was a 36-year-old patient with open trauma to the 4th finger of his left hand. Clinical and paraclinical examinations led to the diagnosis of a complex fracture of the base of P2 and palmar dislocation of the PPI of the 4th finger. Management consisted of trimming, bone reconstruction with pinning of the base of the middle phalanx and distraction fixation using the Suzuki technique. The postoperative results were satisfactory with persistence of a flexion deficit in a sector of 0 to 75°.
Conclusion :
The Suzuki technique is simple, reliable, less expensive and can give satisfactory results. It can be an alternative in settings with limited technical resources.
