Abstract

Introduction:

The Chilaiditi’s syndrome corresponds to the interposition of a small bowel or a large bowel segment between the diaphragm and the liver. It is a rare entity, of chance discovery. The objective of this study was to describe 2 cases of Chilaiditi syndrome at the medical imaging department at Zinder National Hospital.

Observations:

Observation 1: 50-year-old patient, with no particular pathological history, have consulted for abdominal complaints, evolving for several weeks, and in whom the clinical examination had noted tenderness of the right hypochondrium, defenseless or contracture, and in whom the abdominal ultrasound and chest X-ray, associated with the clinical picture allowed us to retain the diagnosis of Chilaiditi syndrome Observation 2: 58-year-old patient, with no particular pathological history, who had been presenting with inflammatory-type pain in the right shoulder for 3 weeks, radiating towards the right hypochondrium and the flank, with defense on clinical examination. Complementary examinations concluded with a subcarbcess. He had benefited from an evacuation puncture of the abscess. The control chest X-ray showed the appearance of interhepato-diaphragmatic clarity, having appeared following the evacuating puncture; allowing us to retain Chilaiditi's sign.

 Conclusion:

Chilaiditi syndrome remains a rare entity. It can be primary or secondary You have to know how to think about it in the face of any inter hepato-diaphragmatic clarity, diagnosed on chest x-ray or an unprepared abdomen x-ray.
